Harassed by members of the board of directors

Release date: May 2, 2024

The executive director of a non-profit organization filed a harassment complaint against certain members of the board of directors. The employer acknowledges the events and submits that the directors in question have been dismissed. According to the Court, repeated insinuations, aggressive and disrespectful interpellations, useless questioning and unfounded accusations designed to undermine the complainant's credibility and professional integrity in the eyes of other board members constitute harassment. Despite the dismissal of the directors concerned by the complaint one month after the complainant's work stoppage, the Court upheld the complaint, since the employer had taken no action at the time of the events, even though the complainant had repeatedly denounced the situation to the main people concerned and to the other members of the board of directors. The complaint is upheld.
