Suspension, termination, and dismissal: the reality behind each term
New training session in Labour Relations
Mtre Dominique Bougie will present a new training session in Labour Relations in the fall of 2026 titled Suspension, termination, and dismissal: the reality behind each term. The terms “suspension,” “termination,” and “dismissal” are often used interchangeably, even though they have distinct legal consequences for both the employer and the employee. In particular, an incorrect characterization of the termination of employment can affect the employer’s obligations, the applicable compensation, access to certain remedies, and the risk of challenges in administrative or civil courts.
